US Pentax Warranty Repair Information

US Pentax Warranty repairs are currently handled exclusively through Precision Camera in Enfield, CT. The previous shop (CRIS) can no longer service any Pentax product.

Precision Camera quotes can be obtained online on this page:
Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation - Service & Repair

Shipping address:
Precision Camera
7 Anngina Drive
Enfield, CT 06082

Note: for Sport Optics (Binoculars, etc.), please fill out this form and use the alternate shipping address.

If your camera or lens is covered under warranty, you will not be charged for the repair. You are still responsible for outbound shipping costs.

US warranties are valid for one year from the date of purchase, only if your product was purchased from an authorized dealer. If the authorized dealer is outside of the US, a $50 service surcharge may apply. Grey market purchases (i.e. many amazon sellers, individual international sellers, non-retail ebay sellers) do not come with warranty! Product registration is not needed, but you must retain your original receipt as proof of purchase.

If you purchased the 2-year Pentax extended warranty, you will be covered for a total of 3 years and are entitled to one free cleaning during that period. This warranty is no longer being offered except in the form of the 645 Gold and Advantage service plan. Extended warranty availability is always subject to change.

Other repair shops:

There are of course other places to get your Pentax gear repaired, though not all shops are able to fix current products.
This list will be updated over time. Feel free to reply with suggestions!

Thanks, Adam!

To those reading this thread, with the 'other repair shops', please be thorough in contacting them (if you go this route) in detailing your issues and ensuring they can repair your gear. For instance, KEH doesn't have the calibration equipment for Pentax lenses and will likely send you to Precision should need that kind of repair.

As Adam stated it changes. As of this time its available at B&H and other retailers. May 8, 2016.

The warranty from Ricoh/Pentax has changed in price. It varies by camera MSRP, or cost you paid. There are warranties for Pentax lens as well. The warranties are from Ricoh/Pentax.

It includes a check-up/cleaning for cameras, and LENS during the three years!

When purchasing a Pentax camera or lens I would at least check for the extended warranties and cost (warranties from Pentax/Ricoh).

I saw this thread and it jogged my memory about a Pentax service experience I had years ago. I had managed somehow to break the little window above the LCD and I contacted a place for a replacement. At the time (around 2012), there weren't a lot of official service centers (I think it was in Colorado and may have been the only one!) and I recall you couldn't even reach anyone directly & had to leave a voice mail. Anyway, my thought at the time was "Gee, they must be crazy busy if there's only one for the entire U.S." as Pentax was really picking up in sales and I honestly felt bad for the people in the department. So, when I left my message I was super polite and even mentioned my empathy for their situation of having to handle so much in one place. Well, the next day a lady from the service department called me back first thing in the morning and thanked me for being so nice in my message and said that, yes, they were insanely busy but when she heard my message she wanted to make sure she handled my concern personally. She sent me out a replacement screen at no charge and I got it only days later.

All that to say: you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, folks. Remember that people that you can't talk to face-to-face are still people. Treat them kindly - treat them like your family - who knows what good might come of it!

This may be of interest. I sent in my 300/4 DA lens for warranty repair (dead AF) and Precision received it 10 days ago. As of today, the lens is still with Precision as it needs to be sent to Ricoh for factory repair, I am told. I was also told it would be 5+ weeks to get it back from the factory. I am rather shocked that it takes this long to fix AF on a brand new lens (but just "old enough" that I couldn't ship it back to B&H for replacement). Frankly I was expecting a replacement lens after Precision Repair realized the lens was literally unused. This sucks.

NOTICE: Precision Camera Phone System Error

Just FYI, I needed to call Precision Camera to check on the status of my 16-85mm repair. The first time I called, I pressed "1" to get to Customer Service, and after the automated system acknowledged that I reached the CS department, I got a message: "THIS IS NOT THE NUMBER FOR PRECISION CAMERA! I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT THE NUMBER FOR PRECISION CAMERA!" followed by a voicemail tone! I called back, went through the whole menu system, and was forwarded to the operator. Once again, I got the same message! I was obviously getting annoyed, but I didn't see any other folks on the forum complaining about this, so after about 15 minutes, I called back, pressed "1", and got through to a very nice lady who quickly updated my status. She told me they are aware of the problem and they are working on a solution and apologized profusely for the confusion.

Just in case it happens to one of you...

Cheers!

I want to send in my k-70 under the 3-year extended warranty I purchased with the camera (Adorama purchase in Dec. 2017) for the aperture solenoid failure. The issue is just beginning to show symptoms - several times in the last couple months, I've had the first shot dark, them taking the same picture again immediately it is exposed normally. The exif indicates that the dark frames are supposed to have the correct exposure as the second frame, but they are quite dark. My K50 initially had the same behavior, intermittent at first then it became progressively worse. Unfortunately I didn't get the extended warranty on the k50 and I eventually sold it for parts.

The warranty card says just to send it in, and suggests I may want to include a SD card with examples of the issue. Is that correct, no pre-authorization required? Do I have to include the SD card with example pictures? When I go to the Ricoh website on warranty service, it leads me to a page where I fill out a form, and then mail in the camera. The web page form is not mentioned on the warranty card instructions - should I do the web form first? The address on the extended warranty instructions is the same as the Precision Camera address (Enfield, CT).

Thanks - Richard.

Is there a non-warranty repair list as well?
