Maybe the problem is parts for the K-1, not necessarily the specific shop.

Possible, of course, but I think the sense of the discussion was the availability of parts from Ricoh/Pentax for non-warranty repairs. As I noted, the shop I used for the K-r repair had no trouble getting parts. The wee beastie was out of warranty. Had it still been under warranty my repair options would have been completely different.
I do agree that we ought to have more options for warranty repairs even though none of my cameras is still under warranty.
