Where to get help?

My k10D (long out of warranty) has messed-up auto-focus. It won't hold, just dithers. This happens with all my lenses. All work fine with my k100.
There is no camera store within a couple hundred miles of where I live. Is there a Pentax repair facility I can ship it to?
Any advice greatly appreciated!

See this thread for a list of service providers:

Personally I'd recommend that you take this opportunity to upgrade the K10D to K-50, which should be an upgrade in just about all areas. It might not be possible to repair a K10D's AF without a donor body, since those parts are no longer made.

Yep. Since its long discontinued, I'd be really very surprised if they have any parts at all for your camera. Precision's website doesn't even list the K10D for a repair estimate. So you're probably better off buying another Pentax body. Probably can find a cheap K10D on ebay if you absolutely have to have that one specifically.

Adam:
Thanks. Some other folks had suggested that too, so I think that's the direction I'll go. Good to have this resource!

Thanks. I'm not wedded to the 10D so I'll be looking for a newer model.

I upgraded to a K-3, but a solution for you would be to use manual lenses? Such as the old Takumars, which I really recommend (the primes, not the zooms)

Yes, I still use a couple of manual lenses from my k1000 film days. One of the several reasons that I stuck with Pentax when I went digital. I agree with you about the Takumars; my 135mm is still the sharpest lens I have! So losing the autofocus on the 10D is not fatal, merely annoying and sometimes inconvenient (like this Sunday, when I'm shooting a celebrity tennis match). Thankfully my 100D still is fine. So one of these days pretty soon I will be looking at a k-50 or newer.
