SLR servicing in the UK - 2016 version!

I'm going to start a thread on this because times change. I have a K2 with sticky/erratic shutter and traditionally mushy light seals, but otherwise nice and fine. Who can be recommended in the UK for seeing to this? I know of Harrow Technical, Sendean, and Asahi Photo, all based in London (of course - centre of the universe to those south of the Watford Gap). Who has used these or anyone else? Thanks, John

Moved to the new repairs forum If you learn of any repair shops that aren't listed in the sticky thread, let me know and I'll add it.

If you use JP, then become a paid-up member of the UK PentaxUser forum as you can then get a 20% discount on the JP prices.

I should add that it is not easy to find out how to get the discount, so search that forum or just ask the question (or PM one of the mods who can help).

I sent my KX to Harrow Technical, with shutter speed problems, took about 10 days from posting to return, came back all nice and clean, new light seals etc. worth £86 in my opinion as it probably had never been looked at since new.

Thanks Carl. I just had an email this morning, Robin at Harrow is going to be retiring unfortunately. I wonder how many younger guys are coming through, as you hear a lot about the good ones being older. Maybe it's just a film thing.

TBH, that's not a complete surprise as Robin is around my own age and was, I think, only working part-time anyway when I dealt with him earlier this year.

A place where we are not almost totally in the dark all day during most of the Winter but then have virtually no dark nights during most of the Summer - do you lot hibernate during the Winter and stay awake 24/7 during the Summer?
(must do weird things to your metabolisms! )
