Pentax AF360FGZ II broken hot shoe. Advice for buying replacement parts.

My Pentax AF360FGZ II flash was literally broken by itself at the hot shoe mount when I stored it on its flash stand with no battery inside. The only weight on the hot shoe mount was the weight of the flash itself.

I bought it from B&H. Unfortunately it was out of warranty period.

I always use my gears very carefully and I haven't banged or dropped the flash anywhere to my knowledge. I'd used it only in a couple of events and portrait sessions.

The cracks look as if the hot shoe mount failed due to fatigue plastic.

I'm not going to send it to Precision Camera Repair since they quote a flat rate of $166.50.

Since the hot shoe was broken to many pieces around the screw holes. I don't think I can glue all the pieces together with my skill.

I'm not the only one having this experience. A user reported similar issue on B&H user reviews for Pentax AF360FGZ II.

Has anyone had any experience buying replacement parts? please advice.

i bought a new shoe assembly on eBay for like $55 and it installed in 3 minutes. That is the best way to go.

I bought a replacement 540 FGZ hot shoe mount direct from Pentax Canada and installed it myself, it was really easy. Cost about $75CDN shipped.

I noted the US Camera related post above (by mikeSF) and searched.

The AF360FGZ II shoe assembly part is located per the shortcut below.

The hot shoe replacement part arrived today. It was very well packed. It looks exactly like the original even though didn't come with the box. Took me less than 3 mins to install. Now my flash is as good as new.
Thank you uscamera.com

that's good to hear.

In an ironic twist, within a couple days of me replacing my hotshoe foot, i managed to crack something on the upper lamp assembly area and rendered the flash unusable.
