Sending my Flash to Precision - Today

My first go with Precision Camera. I know, lots of horror stories, but My flash died. I'll try to update this post as we go to tell you the status.

Experience so far...
1. Fill out form + give them credit card.
2. I am responsible for shipping
3. It is going to cost me $172.50 to fix it. (NOTE: It seems to be a flat service fee)

At least the PDF they give you has a Ship To: you can cut off and stick to the box.

I remember this post. It was the one that reminded me I need to send off my flash (been dead for a few months). I hope I have the same experience.

My very first experience with my K-30 aperture block repair was during the changeover from the former facility CRIS to Precision. CRIS got it and sat on it, took their time shipping to Precision who then had it a long time, but it was fixed properly. I blame Pentax for the poor transition. I sent my son's K-50 in for the same problem last year, they turned it around in 4 days. I sent my K-50 to them to repair the interior battery latch, they got it April 4, called me April 11 to tell me they had to order parts and that the part would be arriving May 12. I check the status daily and it was actually completed and shipped yesterday (May 4). I will get it Monday and hopefully everything will be alright.

Looks like we are waiting on parts as of today. No ETA provided on their site.

I have had it back for quite some time. Actually, I thought I updated this post...

I believe it took about 1 month to get my flash back. There wan't much in the way of communication but the work order receipt did tell me what they fixed. It wasn't very personal or detailed. Mostly the work slip says "Fixed, Cleaned, Working" and "Internal parts replaced".

The workmanship is top notch. My Flash came back looking and functioning like new. It was even cleaned inside and out.

The whole process was basically painless and the results are great. I can vouch for our Pentax repair service. My only wish is there was a bit more of a personal touch, maybe a representative to speak to me, or a more personal touch to the work slip. Other than this, I am very very happy with the service I received.

Did they stick with the flat fee, or was the price adjusted upon repair?

Bummer. That's pretty steep for a flash. Glad it's fixed, though!
