K200d battery issues/lcd screen

Had left my camera in the cold car for a few hours, then had it inside (in its bag) for a few hours before heading out to take some shots.
Had zero power, so put new Energizer lithium batteries in. Camera worked for a few shots, then my lcd screen showed green lines across it before the camera seemed to stop working all together. Turned it off and on again and that last shot was not showing on the card, but the camera worked again for about 10 more shots before doing something similiar.
Brought it home, put new batteries in, and the lcd screen goes all funny again (vertical green lines) before the camera just stops working all together.
Tried another bunch of batteries, still have the same issue. Sometimes the battery symbol will show on the upper lcd screen and it shows as full, and even when I turn the camera off, it remains on.

Strange. I have always only used rechargeable Ni-MH Eneloop batteries and have never had any issues with my K200D.

Is there any visible damage in the battery compartment? Could be a voltage-related issue that led to damage of the camera's electronics. Have you tested with regular alkalines?

I have not tested yet with regular alkalines. Going to try a new pack of lithium ones today.

No visible damage in the battery compartment.

In the menu, was the camera set to auto detect the type of batteries being used, or on accident was alkaline or ni-mh selected? This might have caused an issue but I guess it's hard to know right now since the camera won't power on...

I can power on the camera with fresh lithium batteries, but now I am getting no back lcd information at all (screen is fully black) and when I look into the viewfinder, I no longer get the data there either (shutter speed, iso etc). The shutter will fire, but no images are being recorded on my SD card. Seems like an electronics issue now....

Wondering if I can use the usb input to do a firmware reset? Is that even a thing?

Ditto to Stillshot2. Used regular Duracell alkaline as backup a couple times. Only problem was once in a pinch I used some off brand alkaline and one battery was misshaped on the + pole and didn't make good contact. K200D is built like a tank.

Things appear to be back to normal. Had to swap out batteries a few times and the new lithium batteries I bought turned out to be flat (I borrowed a battery tester). Crossing fingers and toes that the glitch was just that!

Spoke too soon....seems like there is a serious drain on the batteries. New ones put in, and I get a functioning camera for a few shots and then the camera dies again.

Just booked a vacation and looks like my trusty K200D is not going to make the journey with me this time.

My K200d ended being unfixable, but after a few months with a "replacement/upgrade" K-m from the repair shop, I have a new-to-me K200D back in my hands. I really do love this model, even though it has limitations compared to newer models.
