Broken red metal ring on HD Pentax-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

Hello,

I have an HD Pentax-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR for some years now and suddenly the red metal ring has decided to not be attached to the barrel anymore...
Somebody knows which type of glue I can use to fix this problem ? (I want to avoid any troubles with the glue)
Or do you think that I should completely remove it?

Thanks for your help.

I would use a thin superglue, a small drop under the ring.

Use something that won't attack the materials much like a contact cement such as Pliobond or a polyurethane adhesive like clear Gorilla Glue.

Don't use super glue (cyanoacrilate). The vapors will etch many types of plastic, including those used in non-glass lens elements.* I second the suggestion above regarding pliobond.

* For example, most aspheric elements are clear resin.

I'm very fond of Elmer's No-Wrinkle Rubber Cement for things like this. It works really well, and if there's any excess squeezed out onto other areas, it's easy to remove and leaves no residue. I've used it for all sorts of things, but most recently a loose rubber grip on a Variozenitar-K 25-45mm lens, and the Pentax badge that had fallen off a pair of binoculars
