Repair auto focus of Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 in Melbourne/Australia?

I bought a new Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 for Pentax over one year ago....and the auto focus stopped working yesterday. I've tried to clean the contacts but it didn't help. I then contacted Tamron distributor (Blonde Robot) in Australia, and they ask me to contact the authorised Tamron repairs (Hartlands) in Perth, WA.

I would appreciate if fellow Pentax/Tamron users could give your advice, in particular suggestions of a good repairer in Melbourne. Thanks. David.

I don't know about Australia, but in Poland, all Tamron lenses come with 5years door2door warranty. You should check the authorized service center first. Probably its just a flex connector that got loose. Quite common in some of those lenses.

http://vintechcamerarepairs.com.au/ In Lonsdale St, opposite Michaels. Good service, but might take a while as he has a lot of work.

Thanks Des. I'll bring the lens to their shop next time I go to the city.

Can't remember what date it kicked in but under the Australian Consumer Law I'm sure a camera lens would be expected to last longer than "just over 12 months" so it would still effectively be under warranty.

I bought the lens from an eBay store in Japan, as Tamron Australia doesn't sell this lens anymore. Too expensive and too much trouble to send the lens back to Japan...
