It's me back again. I've contacted Eric on my LX, and he will be booked for quite some time. I realized that I might be out of US due to winter school holiday when my camera gets repaired. Therefore I would like some suggestions on backup repair shops in the North America, preferrably ones that are not so busy. Otherwise, I might have some special logistical arrangements to make.
Sincerely
Still in the film days I had this problem on my LX. It's just a tiny rubber damper that depolymerizes after a couple of years. It has to be replaced. A more rough treatment is to paint it over with something that forms a hard and non-sticky surface. Usually available in every household - for example instant glue. This is what I did then and it worked. Mirror slap became a bit harder, but it worked.
The more sophisticated treatment is to replace the LX with a K-1.
