Found this.

https://www.johnpye.co.uk/john-pye-technical-services/

They seem to specialise in repairing tech products for auction. It does mention Pentax on the page.

That sounds positive. What is their turnaround times - I know this is dependent on parts, but if they hold a good supply we may have a good UK option? The service side has been the Achilles heel for Pentax, if this company is good we've a lot to be thankful for.

They are the official Pentax Repair agent.I did not deal directly with them as my retailer took care of that as the camera was under warranty.

It took them 2 months to replace the main board, but this was over the Christmas/New Year break. They did a fine job anyway.

Mmmm two months! That's not so good, I'd have to have bought a replacement with that wait.

From the linked thread Steephill's repair took a maximum of 9 days.

Both upgrade and repair were done in around 5 days excluding delivery times both ways. That seems like a pretty good turnaround time to me.

Just had a DFA 24-70 2.8 back from repair with John Pye. The front of the lens had about 0.5mm wobble following a short drop onto carpet so I wanted to get it checked out.

The lens came back fully repaired and clean. It was well packaged for transit. It needed new internal parts, a clean and optical calibration.

Turnaround was about 3 weeks this included a slight delay while their head engineer was on holiday. It had to be shipped by them to the main repair site in France, as apparently most of the newer lens designs do.

Overall no complaints and they’ve done a good job of the repair.
