Website indicated lens received three weeks ago, yet it had not moved to repair.

By telephone I learned today that it had been shipped to Japan for repair.

When my k-50 was in for service the site said it was recieved but no work started. I called they said never received. I sent ups tracking (with signature) they "found it" and said it was just going to repair that afternoon. The next day it arrived, not shipped over night... So my trust of them and their ability to provide accurate status is zero.

Could this be why Nikon is dropping them at the end of March?

Don't think so. Nikon is scaling back to two locations in the U.S. so if Precision is no longer part of the mix, I think it's a bigger change in Nikon's strategic plan. Check this thread for some more info - there are links and banter.
