HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW Lens Zoom Lock Button Spare Part

I have a HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW telephoto zoom and somewhere in my travels have lost the lens zoom lock button. It's a small rectangular button that when engaged prevents the lens from extending when carrying the camera etc.https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/attachments/189-repairs-warranty-service/489791d1583887573-hd-pentax-d-fa-150-450mm-f4-5-5-6-ed-dc-aw-lens-zoom-lock-button-spare-part-screen-shot-2020-03-11-11.29.06-am.png

Hi Tom.

I would suggest a call to C.R.Kennedy's main repair facility in Melbourne.

Sorry to see you too have lost the lens lock button.
I suffered a similar fate some time back, and at that time Kennedys were not able (allowed ?) to do the repair, and as a result my lens had to be sent overseas for the repair...Philippines I believe.
It came back about 8 weeks later
Hope yours can be repaired locally.

Cheers,
Terry

You may have to phone...I've never had luck with response to their online contact form.

Cheers,
Terry

Yes, CRK are very good at repairs, but I'm not sure they are allowed to supply parts for self-repair. Good luck.

I agree that a phone call may be more fruitful. Better yet, visit their office in Mascot. They can probably send it to head office in Melbourne for repair.

Indeed. That approach has worked for me many times. Luckily even little old Adelaide has a CRK office
Sometimes the lens (or camera) has come back with no charge for repair or shipping - even when outside the warranty period....

Repaired under warranty.
If you intend to use the lens before repair I would advise placing a bit of tape over the switch location.
When my switch went missing there was noticeable air flow in and out of the switch opening when the lens was zoomed, and this is a good way to introduce dust into the lens.
I would also add that I have never used the lens lock since repair, gun shy I guess. My lens doesn't creep which helps.

Cheers,
Terry
