Is it worth repairing broken ME Supers?

I have two non-working ME Supers sitting in storage. Is it worth getting them fixed? That's my big dilemma. I can do some minor work but these have electronics issues and require parts which I can't find.

I hate just having broken stuff laying around though.

I can't speak for DIY repair, but it's certainly worth having them repaired and/or serviced by a qualified engineer if you intend to use them. If you just want to sell them, the servicing costs will outweigh what you could realistically ask for the cameras when completed.

The ME Super is a cracking little camera. I have two, one fully serviced and the other awaiting same...

Given that the number of film cameras still being made is dwindling, there's a long-view argument for having as many in working order as possible for if/when the knowledge to repair them disappears. If they CAN be repaired, they SHOULD be repaired.

if you will be using them, then yes of course.

Else, just keep them as exhibits.

You could sell them for spares or repairs just to move them on.
I would not consider the repair worth while unless there was some sentimental value to them.

I bought an ME Super from the Sue Ryder charity online in the UK with a Miranda 35-70 lens for about £35 a while back in really good condition, all it needed was new seals which are fairly easy to do. That may be your cheapest route to a working body if that's what you want.

100% support that view. It sounds to me like a solution could be found.

The ME Supers appear to be a rather fragile design. I had two of them, and neither lasted long. I listed them for parts. There are more robust designs out there. I've been using a Super Program(among other Pentax's) that I paid $36.00 for and have gone through several rolls of film with no problem.

If it's a mechanical issue sure. If it's electronic it's a shelf queen.

IMO the only film cameras worth having going forward are those that have mechanical or hybrid shutters. An ME Super with just one mechanical shutter speed just isn't worth it.

Relatively speaking they maybe, but they are just a bit out of warranty now and what else of that era still works, and without any maintenance?
Not digging at you just saying, it's amazing any of them work at all.

I think the question isn't even, is it worth fixing - of course they are worth fixing.

The question is, if the electronics are fried, can they even be fixed? I would love to hear if anyone has had one fixed recently.

A repair shop will have the same problem finding parts. Usually if the electronics are out the ME is not repairable.

I could be reading the page wrong but for the ME Super it only lists mechanical fixes, not electronic - except for a fix to the leds not being stable, which suggests a contact issue.

The repair tab says:

Our Pentax camera repair turnaround time is normally 2-3 weeks and we can undertake almost any type of repair regardless of damage sustained.

This suggests that it's worth asking.
