EDIT - KEH said they will repair it for $300 plus parts... We'll see.

Looking on MPB US I see a few examples for sale - would it be worth buying an excellent condition low shutter count example instead of $300 for a button replacement (unless yours is already an excellent condition low shutter count example...)?

I wish I had known about this beforehand, but then I can't get the lens off the camera and would have to carry two bodies... If KEH fails the repair I will come back to this though. Thanks!

Here is the tutorial how to repair this button yourself:
Lens Release Button Steps for Repair - PentaxForums.com

The button can be found on the K7 as well, so if you find a damaged K7 cheap, that's were you can get one.

Sadly I can't find a thread were somebody invented a new button for his K5 (red color)
