The dreaded K-50 shutter problem.

Over the years, I've had several K-50's and K-30's repaired due to the all-too-familiar shutter problem. I had the repairs done by a guy in California named Mark Kainu. He did very good work, but I see that the phone number and email address I had for him are no longer valid.

So, my question is..... is there a repair service you would recommend for these repairs?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I used to be a "regular" here, but have been MIA due to lots and lots of health issues, but..... things are getting better.

This would seem better to be moved or at least xposted into the K-50 forum. I briefly considered doing that, but you may feel you have a reason to post this here.

But think about it as there is much info there about this issue and many informed people.

Thanks for the hint. It's been a long time since I've posted anything and I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. Please place this anywhere you feel might be the most appropriate and get me the info I'm looking for.

I appreciate your help.

Dewey

Ops.................. I found Mark's current address. He still repairs Pentax cameras, but he moved to Yachats, Oregon. So.... disregard this post. My mistake, completely.

Let's just leave everything be, then, and this should age away.

Do check out the threads in k-50 area for any other postings about a k-50 or pics from a k-50.

Hey Dewey!
So nice to see you back!
If you're technically able, you could do the repair yourself using a donor (white, made in Japan) solenoid.
Kind regards,
Mark

Did you want to branch into aperture blocks, UV?

You've got it all down pat for SDM conversions.

You may have to fall in love with soldering irons and jeweller's screwdrivers.

@Dewman,

Nothing to add to the camera problem, but just want to say it's great to see your return here.

LOL - NO. I don't have the patience for that work. I'd also have to charge too much.
