I come back to congratulate Ogun because the photo is both difficult to catch and magnificent! One of the best owl photos in flight I've ever seen. Regardless of winning or not (this contest is at your photographic field of expertise) I would love to learn a few things about the photo (where did you catch it, if it is from a hide, if it was a rare opportunity or quite coomon to spot owls out in the fields in Sweden etc). Thanks again for sharing the phot with us!
Thank you very much my friend!
I catch this beauty quite close to my home where I live in Sweden, Linköping. Every year or every 2nd year they come and visit us early spring and stay for a while depending on rodent population around the lake (Lake Roxen). They are not so common, last two years for example not so many people could get a chance to see or photograph them in the same area. (I encountered once. Have some shots but not BIF.)
I never use a hide because I don't like to be nailed/caged on a point somewhere in field. I need to be able to move, especially when I take BIF shots. So I don't use a tripod either such times. I have various camouflage clothes like ghillie suits etc. (Nowadays I use those microlight 3D leaf camouflage suits [Realtree Max camo products], gloves, head mask etc. and I found much much more comfortable than a ghillie.)
Cheers!
