Hello

I select the first photo as the winner of the Cityscape by Night contest.
I was not able to see the name or photographer of the photo.
Congratulations to all finalists.

I think #6 is the best of the city scapes because it is focused on the city however it has the mountain in the background that compliments the city scape.

Sticking strictly to the theme 'Cityscape by Night'. A partisan # 11 Melbourne Australia, place of my birth and most importantly has the added human dimension.

I'm sorry. I'm old school. I don't believe in post processing of images beyond basic cropping. There's to much editing now. I can't vote for any. Not sorry.

I look at it differently. We have great Adobe and other photo editing software manipulators.

I just want to voice out my 2 cents here because this came up quite often when I hosted the night photo walk before the pandemic. Some people among beginner worried / hesitated to show their post-processed photos because they worry people would say something like their work is photoshopped, etc
IMHO, I view photography as an "Art", and I think it common for any artist to use a variety of technic and tools in both pre and post-process on their artwork.
Will the technics implemented by individual artist works? well, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
As for me, I think artists shouldn't hold back on their creativity.
In particular, If we didn't do "Photojournalism" in which the photo should be a capture of an event with little to no creative spin.

Me too ! most of the others are eyes catching surreal to me, feel like I am inside a cartoon ha ! those are simply too bright too much of HDR or POST done to it, I admitted I am old school, I like #8 coz it is more natural to me, just wished little more depth to it, like adding little HDR to it so that can give more detail.

These are all excellent examples of a subject I have rarely attempted.

I agree, there seems to be a lot of editing. Not necessarily a bad thing. We have many tools available. Lights, flashes, filters and now editing. Embrace the technology but keep it in perspective. Aren't they amazing pictures.

The "argument" about image editing will go on. I am far more interested in the end result than how it was achieved. Something else I "ignore" is how "difficult" it was to take the photograph... an excellent family snapshot can be better than something the photographer has waited hours, days or weeks to capture. Some photographers say, but it was so difficult to take and frankly, for the purposes of judging whether one photograph is better than another, I don't care. It may seem contradictory to my first statement, but it isn't, if I say that I was disappointed in the results of a recent competition I saw (not here), where the judges seemed to have praised effort over artistic merit.
