Very nice macro on the first shot Frederic... I'm curious... assuming you used your 25mm extension tube on the 85mm and it doesn't pass through the AF ? Last time I did that, it made my full focus range something like 2" to 24" on a 135mm Tak I was playing with. Your magnification looks decent on the 85mm, maybe .5x? I'm tempted to try with my Non-SE Silver FA 85mm, heh. Just curious.

Yes, the extension tube passes the AF, even SDM, but I don't use AF often in macro because it changes the magnification. Sometimes I use two or three extension tubes together...

Thanks Frederic, that is helpful. I didn't consider the focus breathing. I didn't notice on my rig because I would just set min focus and use CIF and lean in until the shutter tripped with the manual focus lens I was playing with. You risk motion blur doing that way with catch in focus, but not at the shutter speeds I was using, and you have to lean in veerrrrry slowly, heh. Once the shutter trips, you can freeze and take a second "safety shot" that will have no motion to worry about. It seemed to work fine for me.
