Thanks!
I did quick test, with old Tamron 90mm, 20mm extention tube, and old 2x Vivitar TC. It's such a cool combo. Takumar macro 50mm preset is next.
Wow that Taku sharpness, impressive

Oh, no that was all withTamron 90mm. I plan to test Takumar 50 preset soon.
I could not do it yesterday, only tested with Tamron until sweat started dropping on weather sealed K-1
Even with old vivitar tc is was not bad. Still can't pull the trigger on HD 1.4x for the price of good lens...

FA 77 @ f5

---------- Post added 06-09-16 at 01:33 PM ----------

Oh and I'll post this photo as more of a showing of ISO performance as I rarely ever went over 800 on my K3.

This is shot with the FA 77 @ f2.8 and ISO 1600, 1/60th a second at night under 2 florescent lights. All i did in photoshop camera raw was adjust the exposure +0.7 and slight bump to vibrance/saturation

full size if people are interested

This is shot with the SMC PENTAX-A ZOOM 1:3. 35-105 in a white sales tent in the shadow. All the colours of the two jackets are excatly as I remember them. JPG straight from the camera, no PP. It is much sharper than it looks due to the reseize.

Well, certainly more detail's restored if you look at the version before uploaded here, @K-amps:

You can see better the rain droplets in her hair, but to be honest my shot's just not sharp in the first place!

She was a pretty serious person with the other shooters, but I kept talking and wore her down to get this ever-so slight lightening of her mood and clicked while it was still there.

Interesting. Have you tried the skin tones #1 and #2 ? Looks like the camera is processing the raw files, also I couldn't really tell the difference (I need to get some subject with good looking skin :-) )
As part of the learning process, I do all my own processing, @Biz-engineer - and you can see by my Gallery, plenty of it (clackers's Album: Samples - PentaxForums.com) - so don't use any of those JPEG settings.

I was in Yellowstone last Friday through Sunday. This feature was one I had to shoot. I took some photos of it in 2013 1nd 2014 with my K5 and K5-IIs. They simply could not focus on it. Every shot using auto focus was soft and when using focus confirmation on manual focus lenses it was always off. Either the heat or steam seemed to be the problem. Well I tested again using my K1 and D FA28-105 lens. It seems to have nailed it. I have had my camera for 8 days now and it's performance at Yellowstone has left me very happy with my decision to get one.

Well done! I just love the colors.

For Yellowstone, did you find 105mm long enough?

Wow K-amps. You really know how to make that 15-30 dance. I'm thinking of buying one. Do you have any reservations on its sharpness or performance in general. I seems a bit large.

Thx
