Another "smile for the birdie" image -- great shot!

(BTW, I notice this bird has bands on the legs. Do you ever send copies of such photos to the local bird watching societies? There's probably some scientist somewhere who would love to know that bird XXX was in some known location on some known day.)

Gray Jays' Winter Survival Depends on Food Storage, Study Shows | University of Guelph

I have the study author's email, have met him several times, and there are many birds I send him images of from time to time, but usually more off the beaten track. If i see birds some place unusual, he uses the info to help establish the range of their territory. I have the info page used to identify the birds from the bands. I photograph these ones every year. It's a popular spot where you hardly have to get out of your car. Everyone and their uncle has pictures of them. Others, you have to go see on snow shoes, once things firm up a bit.

These birds are very territorial. It's rare you find them out of their territory.

OK, took a brief break from the 400mm... here is a shot with the Tokina 20-35. I need to spend more time with this lens, I think we will become good friends...

Frederick, I know it doesn't look it, but this is a Mini-Moon shot, or not so super.

Pentax K-1 Tokina AF 235 II 20-35 mm F3.5-4.5 ƒ/8.0 20.0 mm 1/1000 iso100

Still Leica Summicron-R 50/2 on Pentax K-1..

Mathieu, Leica-R 50/2 @ 2.8, Iso800, 1/50s. hand held, SR on. Xpost.

I am liking your Leica-R 50mm... I had the IIIc w/ 50mm, the one where they told me the air bubbles in the glass made the lens special. Hah! Yours is much more special, in a better way.
These are great B&W's you have been posting.

Great forest shots, the first one has that 3D pop to it.
Makes me think of the Endor moon... like, where are the Ewok's?

Edit: Hehehe...with the deletion of the post, now my post has lost context...I'm not crazily responding to thin air....or am I?
