Having fun pushing the limits of the Tokina downtown the other day... If you let the lens tip back a little, like this first shot, things start to go wonky fast, but no worse than any other UWA I've seen.

Better off using the levelers in the viewfinder of the K1 which are a big help. Shooting straight and level like the second pic is the real answer, but that is not always possible.

I doubt it. Their normal attitude makes a bull seem downright passive by comparison. A lot of the bison in Yellowstone were pretty emaciated after a long hard winter. Ribs showing and the humps almost as thin in cross section as the bone that supported them. Some must have lost hundreds of pounds. No elk calves in sight yet. That has, no doubt, changed in the last two weeks.
The most pugnacious "domesticated" wild animals I've encountered are musk oxen. When in rut, the males will charge almost anything that moves, and will bash themselves against wire fencing trying to get at passing tourists. Apparently both male and female musk ox, even if raised by hand by humans from birth, remain dangerously fierce as adults. As bad as if not worse than polar bears.

That last image, the tiger within a tiger = a way to see a baby before it's born? A lens that could that would beat ultrasound or amniocentesis.

Finally tried astrotracer. Worked really well imho, stars didn't trail at about 1m exposure, which allowed for lower iso and cleaner overall image. Making another exposure for the foreground and masking it in is easy, so no real drawback.

Gosh. Thank you. The thing is that although I have been taking photographs for nearly 40 years (MX; Z1; *istDS; K10D; and now K1) I have never used flash creatively, as stupid as that sounds. I have made it my mission this year to change that and with some excellent advice from a forum member here, Nigel McGregor, I have been experimenting. I am absolutely loving the new world it has opened up for me.

Now that there is such a joyful and calm mood in PF, its time to start finding pics from the K-1 that will be posted on various websites, but most importantly to start upload the pics that the members take... I'm sure some of the forum members will have the camera quite earlier and we are expecting some of the real thing magic until we get to hold the K-1 in our hands

@Kenspo Do you read me my friend?

Hey Paul, Thanks! We are generally outnumbered around here for sure, but I like to think of us as just more discerning users.

Rondec,
Nice gate shot, you had a beautiful morning with the sunrise, fog & soft clouds.
fs,
You did it again, awesome shot. I am partial to sunrise & sunset photos with interesting content and color.
Bill gosma,
That is a very beautiful Eastern Sierra sunrise, I looked at that for several minutes, a lot of image there

Here are a couple of SOOC shots with the DFA 24-70. Couple of aberrations in the second one, first time I have seen that in this lens.
Best Regards, Bob

A small experiment with DOF, and where better to photograph a horse than in Kentucky?
