There are some rocks that extend out into the water so I didn't have to get my feet wet, although in interest of a good photo, it would probably be worth it.

You could always invest in a pair of hip waders like fly fishermen use

Here are a couple birds I got that I have no idea what they are while on a roadtrip a couple weeks ago in northern California. It was north of Jensen CA I think along Hwy 1. First one is a different bird than the second 2. No idea what they are though, except the one in pic 2 and 3 was huge.

I have a set for this purpose. Handy but I don't often want to carry them along and change in/out of them. So I still get my feet wet now and then.
