Still playing with my newly minted K1II. This time, a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo in my back yard taken with the Sigma 500 f4.5 APO DG EX and Sigma 1.4x TC. Again, I have used ISO2000. The shot has been substantially cropped, but not resized. Although there is some noise in the background, this appears to be at a level previously seen at ISO1000 on the K1. The ability to increase the ISO like this means I can avoid using flash, and still get shutter speeds of 1/1000th on what was quite a dull day. Great for birding!

The one with reflection on the bus (?) is really well-crafted. And a fine series overall

Hattifnatt, really enjoying your Berlin series.
Thank you both.

Some Berlin architecture, this is the Kollhoff Tower in Potsdamer Platz.

Not another bl**dy surfer? Yep, and you've probably already seen this bloke too. D-FA 150-450mm wide open at f5.6 and 450mm.

...I'm starting to think that lens takes good pictures on its own!

I also didn't think this lens did well wide open, but I'd have to say despite my less than complimentary skills it does just fine when focused properly. Besides, I was only there to keep it out of the surf.Actually I nearly got washed over a few times due to waves coming around Elephant's rock from the south across the beach and from the north via the inlet. It got worse with the tide coming in so I beat a hasty retreat which in hindsight was not the right decision...which is my excuse to make sure I go back for another go.

These are both fun, I like the interesting perspective.

A hasty retreat is always a good decision, especially if your gear is worth $$$$...
But I guess no risk = no keepers, so kudos to your courage
Regarding lens performance, I'd kinda expect a 2'000€ lens to be at least sufficient wide open...

Simon, may I ask you what lens did you use on your last 2 shots displayed in this thread ?
They both looks fantastic, lighting and composition are great and you achieve amazing colors in PP as well.
Very well done.
Thank you very much, both photos were taken on the 28-105, a truly fantastic lens, more than I could have ever hoped for, if only it was 24-105, it would be the perfect lens.

The photo of Bowfiddle Rock was shot at 28mm and the photo of the tree was at 88mm.

I've spent an awful lot of time over the last year refining my PP and learning all about colour theory and different processing techniques. I'm glad it is finally being noticed by people.

Thank you.

Late evening light strikes the cliffs on Scotlands North West coastline, the rain had come and gone all day long resulting in some wonderful, moody clouds at sunset.

Flowers from our gardens

Here are a few test shots of flowers from our gardens, trying out the Pentax-A 55mm f 2.8 on the K-1 with appropriate adapter. This is a good lens for flowers on K-1 with MFD of about 10 inches, allowing the user to fill the screen with a single larger blossom.

Forgive the extreme crop... but I wanted to show his eye, long proboscis and frozen wings... I just thought it was so cool.

smc PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mm F2.8 WR ƒ/7.1 100.0 mm 1/1000 iso100

Still heavily cropped, but not as extreme... the K-1 files continue to impress me, you can just drill down and the detail is there.
The Power of 3 ?

Tell me about it! Oh well, we can band together and make it a thing, so then it's cool to be monosubjecter's.
Nice posts lately, keep it up! 91.96% there!

Where is the haunted castle? There must be one there somewhere with that scenery! Heh. Very cool moody shot.
