This is my first attempt at shooting the Andromeda Galaxy! I wouldn't even have dipped my toes into this if it weren't for astrotracer, so thanks Pentax!

5 40-second Astrotracer shots stacked. Heavily cropped. Rokinon 135mm f2, Pentax K-1

These guys get pretty large down here (some grow to about 3 to 4 inches long) and have quite the appetite for stripping our vegetation... they are good protein source for the birds though.***

***Shots like this are why I really dig the 150-450mm as a better-than-macro, macro lens. It just lets me get "close enough" and decent magnification without having to get so close as to scare the subject off, then the crazy amount of cropping you can do with the K-1 sensor lets you do the rest in post. With the slower focus and shorter reach of my DFA100WR, I would/did miss a lot of butterfly and other small critters on the move. Don't get me wrong, I love the DFA100WR for true macro work on less agile subject and even some portrait work at a distance, but it's not the best choice for this this type of longer working distance near macro field shots.

I said that in my review of the lens. Works well from 28mm to 35mm (with some vignetting at 28mm)...

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Makes for an interesting and perhaps unique lens for the K-1 then, I mean how many f1.8 28-35mm choices do we have? I wouldn't mind seeing it go head to head against the FA31 at 31mm on the K-1, that could be a really interesting battle. Seeing as it's also about half the price of a FA31...

I can understand that rationale, and if you lived down under you might get further appreciation for it due to the deadly animated variety of thingies

After working on the monochrome version of the Yandhai crossing, I almost didn't bother working on a colour version as I was that happy with it, glad I did tho, they both offer something different, hard to choose a favourite now...
