We had to have our dog, Zeus, put down 3 or 4 weeks ago. He had been a good dog for us for fifteen and a half years, but he couldn't see, was going deaf, and then stopped eating. It was a sad day for our family.

A week ago, though, we got an addition, a lab puppy that we named Aria. She's a very sweet dog, high energy, and seems quite intelligent.

(Both shot with the DFA *85).

Sorry to hear that your old friend has passed. But Labs are great and high energy is probably an understatement. Aria looks really fine.

It can be crushing to lose a dog who has been a happy, loyal, trusting friend for many years. You feel that somehow you've let them down when you cannot protect them from what cannot be prevented. You also see them for a long time after because your mind conjures a memory-image of them in their favorite places. Dahlia is our lovely new Sheltie, but sometimes I call her Tralee, our preceding Sheltie who was special to us in ways that can neither be explained by us nor understood by others.
