Knurled dial/button next to top LCD

What's the large knurled dial and button on the top of the K-1 just to the right of the top LCD? I don't see any markings to indicate its use.

Selector for the Smart Function dial. Gives you a third control wheel with selectable functions. Bracket, HDR, ISO, EV comp and other things are on the Smart Function dial, the knurled knob moves through the options.
