I don't know what I can clarify - this picture of K-1 presentation at CP+2016. We can see 4:3 crop-mode with 32.2 MP.

Here's what the Ricoh website says about grid (different pages on the features section):

Smart Function:
Viewfinder shooting: ON/OFF
Live View shooting: change of grid pattern

Live View:
A choice of grid display from five patterns and two colors (white or black)

4:3 crop is probably for video - 16:9 or 4:3 being standard video aspect ratios.

so, why any crop option there if you can do it in postprocessing?
