just got an e-mail from CRKannedy that the official K-1 launch will be in Sydney ( bugger, the other side of the Continent ) on TUE 10MAY at 18:30 Overseas Passenger Terminal, level 3 roof top
special deals for those who attend, plenty of K-1 to purchase ( digi Direct) , drinks and food

I'll be going, but I can't afford to buy one. I was hoping that they might give one away, like they did when they launched the K3.

What do you need to do to score an invite? I've bought plenty of stuff from them. Maybe not quite enough.

DigiDirect are listing the K1 at Aus$2798, which is US$2186 at current exchange rate. I hope someone can do better.

Yes...I suspect all the first transaction was done when the exchange rate was less favourable - Oz$ is up about 7% against the US$(unless it ha fallen back today) since then, and that hasn't been reflected in prices.

How it rates against the Yen, I am unsure - this may be the relevant currency.

It's probably a complex formula - Philippine peso (where the camera is assembled) vs Japanese yen vs USD vs Australian dollar.
