This thread is quite a few days old since Adam's post, however I thought this worth mentioning...
Whilst I do use some *reputable* third party batteries in my equipment these days, I've stopped buying the cheapest no-name examples after having two of them develop a bulge over a relatively short space of time (around a year). This, I believe, indicates a build up of gases inside the battery. At the very least, they will eventually burst whilst outside the camera, and toxic fumes will be floating around. At worst, they could be in my cameras when this happens, and I could be looking at serious damage... all for the sake of "saving" a little money up-front. Had I bought genuine camera-manufacturer batteries, or perhaps the more reputable third party brands, I doubt this would have happened.
