DxO Optics Pro support for K-1 in September

DxO finally got around to posting the modules that will initially be supported for the K-1. The schedule is set for this coming September. Not seeing either the 15-30mm or the 70-200mm on the list (perhaps people so interested should consider suggesting they support those (and other) lenses here: DxO Optics Modules suggestion form | www.dxo.com. Here is the current list:
  1. Pentax smc DA 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM
  2. Pentax HD D-FA 24-70mm F2.8 ED SDM WR
  3. Pentax smc FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited
  4. Pentax smc DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited
  5. Pentax smc FA 35mm F2 AL
  6. Pentax HD DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited
  7. Pentax smc DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited
  8. Pentax smc FA 43mm F1.9 Limited
  9. Pentax smc D-FA 50mm f/2.8 Macro
  10. Pentax smc DA 50-135mm f/2.8 ED (IF) SDM
  11. Pentax smc FA 50mm F1.4
  12. Pentax smc FA 77mm F1.8 Limited
  13. Pentax smc DA* 200mm F2.8 ED (IF) SDM
  14. Pentax smc DA* 300mm F4 ED(IF) SDM
  15. Tamron SP AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical [IF]
  16. Tamron SP AF 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO

Looks like I will have to wait for a bit longer before renting a K-1 system to compare to my D800.

it is interesting that so many "DA" lenses are on the list -- I wonder how many of them will work if you manually set the K-1 to override capture to full-frame instead of crop-sensor? Guess we will find out. I'm going to bring this up on their support site.

At least it is a start. I am not a DxO Optics Pro user, but I know there are many members on this site who will be quite thrilled when the K-1 and new lenses are fully supported.

There may be a few example DNG files out there so you can try it out.

My guess: they only intend on supporting those DA lenses that fully cover the full-frame. As such, they probably will never support the DA* 60-250mm.

Michael

P.S. this might be reason enough for Pentax to re-introduce the lens as a D-FA* 60-250mm with modified baffle as discussed elsewhere on this forum.

  • Pentax DA 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3

the rest are scheduled for October.
