I took this not long after I got my K-1 in May. I really should do more PS images. This one is a bit front focussed, so the detail in the cliffs is not optimal. But it isn't bad either
For the record, these walls are about 150m high, and contain some of the most amazing traditional rock climbs in the world.

It with a pained look on my face, I present these photos. Pixel shift... it's a pain to take them, it's more of a pain t process them. Digital Camera Utility is completely reminiscent of much of the software that used to be released for Windows. No intuitive work flow, clunky, slow and essentially in-excusable. I suffered extreme boredom for the images. And the final tiffs are 217 MB each.

But without further ado

The thing with pixel shift is, if you see something that has the potential to be a great image, it gives you the option to put a little extra into it. By the way, I like these as posted, but on a 27 inch monitor, they are just stunning.

Normhead, completely agree with your assessment of DCU. It's awful. Like something created in Windows 3 era. I only use it to open and save out the MC-PS TIF and thats it. Still stupid.

But the result on a good image is quite noticeable improvement in detail and color to my eye. The rebel in me also loves putting out an image from my weird cheap Pentax that the Canikons cannot match (technically speaking) at twice the price. I personally love PS and use it quite regularly. Even though it is a PITA to process.

Just use Lightroom? It does at least as good with non-MC file as SilkyPix. Then blend in the details in post where needed. It is actually fun 'cuz you can paint magic details over the original image

But you know the artist must suffer for his or her work. Just don't cut your ear off or anything like that.

I find you workflow comments give me a bit of a chuckle. All I have ever used was PDCU. My MX-1 came with Silkypix 3. I know it limits me but it came with the camera so I use it. I will probably buy the full package at some point in the future. My daughter in law got Lightroom as a gift from my son last Christmas. She fired it up and asked my how to use it. Total blank look on my face. After using the Silkypix product I found it not intuitive at all.

I have a number of issues. You can't multi-task which it, it has no minimize control and hogs the whole screen, The only way I can find to import images is to highlight the image in the finder sand select "open with", it has no import command. The help menu is useless. How can you have a help menu that doesn't even tell you how to open a file?

The only positive thing for me is I'm very soon going to be switching to lightroom.
