There must be some problem with the card slot. Try blowing air out or cleaning with some folded paper. Often SD card slot gets jammed or blocked by dirt or dust inside.

What kind of cloth would you suggest. I suspect your suggestion - renault- is the most likely, there is some dust or dirt in the slot. Blowing out with a rocket blower has not worked.

It also pays to clean the contacts on your SD Card with a soft Pencil Eraser at frequent intervals which will help greatly. Carry an Eraser in your Camera bag incase of emergencies.
