72 yr old rookie renames sigma 50-500 bigmos

headline: 72 yr old rookie from nashville officially (in his mind) renames the famous sigma 50-500. before stabilization the 50-500 was called the big ma. after stabilization the name switched to big mos. now thanks to the new nashvillian forum member the name has been officially changed to big moose!!!!what, why???? well just because this lens which I just got yesterday IS. I'll be hitting the weights more but win or lose this big moose WILL become my walk around ( or drag around)
fred from nashville.

You need a donkey. The donkey is not for your lens; it is for Chuck Norris to ride while he carries your lens for you.

The 50-500mm was never called the Big Mos. The Big Mos is the 150-500mm.

Probably the Sigma 300~800mm f5.6. Ever seen one other than in a photo?

AFAIK the 50-500 was the Bigma, the 50-500 Bigmos, the 120-400 was the Mini Bigma or Mini Bigmos and the 150-500 kind of shares all those names sometimes.

Sigzilla is (deservedly) the 200-500.

Speaking of -oses, one must never forget PotatOS

The 50-500 has been the Bigma since the first non DG version was sold in 2001. Call your personal lens Big Moose but the 50-500 will always be Bigma. Mine is the DG version released in 2006. They later released a HSM version but the Pentax mounted lens have never to my knowledge had optical stabilization in the lens as OS or as Pentax calls it IS is in the camera instead. So please feel free to call your new lens whatever you wish but for over 16 years the 50-500mm Sigma has been and forever will be the Bigma.

That 200-500 is f2.8.
With a dedicated 2x it is 400-1000 f4.

Herniators? No, the Sigma 300mm f/2.8 is actually much heavier than the 150-500mm or even the 50-500mm Bigma.
