IN other news, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV has managed to climb all the way up to #14 on the list and has Dynamic Range almost equivalent to a K-5. Unfortunately my last two Canon shooting landscape buddies recently ditched all their Canon gear for Nikon D810s and Nikon gear. I told them something was coming from Pentax, but they wouldn't listen.

People should post responses on Dxomark to the effect: thanks for an objective, informative review and politely ask for lens tests.
They have not tested a Pentax lens since November 2013, so I would not hold my breath waiting !!

I think considering the $1500 price difference to the closest contenders (and the newest Canon 5D IV at $3499 scoring 91) this is pretty damn amazing!

I use PDCU or in camera development. Since I moved from the K200 (CCD) to K5 (CMOS), K3 and now K1, I was never really content with the colors of CMOS, and my impression is that it got worse. I think I'd need a color calibration card and try to tune colors to my taste. I think I'm not talented for colors, it feel out of control.
And I feel that the colors from the K-1 is like the ones from the K10d that I loved. How different one can feel.

I just wonder. They write:
"The new Pentax high score puts the K-1 in fifth place for all sensors we’ve tested and an impressive third place podium position for full-frame interchangeable lens cameras."
But when You look at the camera database, K-1 is in the fourth place.
I think the 645Z is on top, but they have not published it's results.
Remember that the Sony right on top of the K-1 is a mirrorless Full Frame with a fixed 35mm i think , so yeah, the K-1 is #3 from the FF Interchangeable Lens Cameras.

What Canon users think of 5D Mark IV? It is pretty much described here :

In Finland the prices for lenses are so ridiculous that Canon 5D4 with few good L-lenses equals K-1 kit with new d-fa zooms. And the new Canon is now in the same ballbark as Sony ff-cameras in terms of performance.

Of these two it is the Canon which wins in my book thanks to supreme selection of special lenses like the WA T-SE and excellent 90mm T-SE.

Easy to joke about Canon but they have all use cases covered and if/when ML firmware hits mk4 it leaves all others eating dust in terms of features. Display gain alone is worth it.

K-1 has better low light ISO than Nikon D800/800E/810 and marked ISO is close to real ISO than Nikon has.
For example, K-1 has 13155 ISO marked as ISO12800. Nikon D800 has 8661. E.t.c.

Not small difference.

Critique is 99% about its totally dissapointing video features.
Canon users expected universal camera, excellent in stills and videos.
As a still camera it is very good, but as a video camera it is "2012 edition".
So that is not a joke, that is a reality which looks like a joke

Yes, I saw that ISO was very well calibrated, except the 2-3 highest. ISO 204800 is actually 284153, about 39% higher then indicated. I can imagine that if one have a need for extreme ISO, its good news that it can be pushed even further.

The k-1 is third in sports score (after only a7s and a7 r II and second in dr (after Nikon D810) and eight in color depth. That kills the score.

They should do a pixel shift run. It should score better on all counts. Also did they weigh the overall score the same as for the Nikons???
