Pentax K-1 owners - I need a favor from you.,

Hello everyone.
Could you be so kind to make me a favor - if you own Pentax K-1 - please make a quick shot with cap on the body or on the lens (if with lens mounted - please close aperture to the smallest). Switch of the both noise reduction options, change to manual, set the ISO equivalent to 6400, exposure time to 30 sec, cover the viewfinder and make a shot. Please post the 100@ crop of jpeg here in the thread.
This is what I got from my camera. I do believe that it is the same issue as Nikon D800 and D810 has/had. There is another thread about this topic. I just would like to see how many cameras are affected and if there are any K-1 without this behavior. I do not have access to other K-1s so cannot tell how common is this thing.
I still can return my camera till Monday or exchange it for another one. I like it very much and if this is common thing I will just keep my current camera and will wait for the fix from Pentax.
Will really appreciate your help with this.
Best regards,
Yuriy

It looks like you have the "white dot" issue. Your sensor will need to be sent to a workshop for sensor calibration.

you don't specify whether the frame should be taken in RAW or jpeg - I took it in RAW according to your criteria and it came out totally clean - it should be noted that it is temperature dependant and it's fairly cool here - about 16degC - but I'd say that if you're getting that at ISO 100 there's a problem whatever anybody else is getting

Thank you Ole and Tjompen1968,
I am following that thread. I was wondering how many cameras are affected just to estimate my chances to get a camera without this behavior. Id the chances are high, I will try to exchange my camera for a new body. If chances are low, I will convince my dealer to ship my K-1 to Pentax for calibration.
BTW, the store guys were trying to convince me that this is normal behavior.

Thank you ffking,
I wrote jpeg crop.
But raw will also show the same thing.
So it looks like there are cameras that are not affected. This is great to hear.

After doing the test, found out mine has both the dots and bar. Called the camera shop where I purchased it and this was the first they heard of the problem. I've done some long exposures but always with in camera NR on. Wouldn't know anything is wrong. Really love the camera! Hopefully Ricoh/Pentax will get to this figured out in short order.

Tested mine K-1 at ISO 100, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800, 25600, 51200, 102400.
No white noise at ISO 100, very faint noise at ISO 800 and 1600 and later increasing. Clearly visible at ISO 3200 and 6400. Seems acceptible until ISO 12800, then picture changes, and it seems that chroma noise appears.
It is interesting than on K-5II the white noise at ISO 6400 is not so pronounced

I see you are in Lansing. Is there a shop there that carries Pentax?

Thank you Medex and Gimbal.
In my case at 100 I have one hot/stuck pixels (I can live with that), but with the increase in ISO the number of these dots increases significantly.

Did the test out of curiosity because still in warranty and there was no white dots at 100 iso I even zoomed in to check just pitch black with no visible dots. Thanks for asking to try this technique as is always good to see things are in working order. I also like to do the opposite and shoot at blue sky at f22 to see if the sensor is clean. Thanks and good luck

I'm not convinced yet that there are any K-1 that does not look like this at 30sec and iso 6400.
