AF issue

I just bought a K1 with a 31mm, camera and the lens are gorgeous but I have a serious problem with the autofocus. I simply can not change from MF to AF. The display, even though I hold down the AF mode button and turn the reel, remains on MF. I moved the switch on the body from MF to AF. The lens aperture is on A.
Furthermore the camera meter only in spot mode other modes are dimmed

I also tried without the lens ... nothing changes

I would be grateful if you could give me some ideas or advice.

If you cannot check another lens on the K-1 or test the FA 31 on another camera, I think you are stuck with respect to further trouble shooting.

Have you checked the contacts on the mount of the lens?
If you bought the lens used then perhaps try cleaning the contacts with a microfibre cloth. The "A" pin on the lens mount should stick out a bit (the corresponding contact on the camera's mount is referred to as the "*" contact in the last diagram of Bojidar Dimitrov's KA mount explanation).

You could try a factory reset of the K-1 (-> custom functions), but I don't have any hope that this will help.

Sounds like a bad connection to the lens. Try cleaning the contacts and see if that helps. Sometimes you have to wiggle the lens in place, too, if it isn't fully engaged.

Thanks for the answer. Both the K1 and the 31mm are brand new and the problem came out since the first time I assembled camera and lens ... I have the impression that I was very unlucky, unfortunately I have no other lens to test.
I'm going to take camera and lens for warranty service

Did you buy online or from a store? 'm sure a store would let you test the body with another lens

Good luck!

P.S.: Am I wrong in expecting that the store should just replace the faulty lens or camera? If you have to send it in for a warranty repair, you might as well could have bought from an online shop, no?

I believe an exchange would not be an unreasonable request.
