I use my K-1 for adventure/action and have it always ready on ski touring or in the piste (using Peak designs Capture clip to attach it to my backpack strap). Needless to say the camera takes a lot of harsh handling and it has taken extremely hard falls. So far both the camera and the mounted 28-105 mm lens have survived without the slightest problems. Love Pentax for this!

Shooting action I use following auto focus and continuous shutter release (medium or high speed), but twice this winter I have had the multi-exposure problem described in this thread. Typically the camera freezes after three shots and the preview shows just the first of them. Until I read this thread I assumed this to be a camera software fault, but realize that it is likely that the camera rather got into multi exposure mode. I do use the helpful locking function, but not always, so probably the problem is a consequence of shutter mode changed by the four-way button.

From the last mishap I can see that I had a really great shot, but totally ruined by the multiexposure. I shoot RAW DNG. Is there any way in post production to separate the (three) exposures?

This just happened with my K-1. First I tried turning off SR and then a firmware update. Then I did a search. I use the 4-way to switch from single exposure to timer quite frequently; somehow I manged to set it for multi exposure

Seems like the problem has been solved and is caused by inadvertent setting changes. Will watch for that when K-1 arrives.

Had an Olympus E300 that started making multiple exposures. Weird thing was it had no ME setting. Finally figured out the Fuji compact flash memory card was bad. After replacing the card it never happened again.

Thanks,

If I have the .PEF file for a multiple exposure; can I recover the two individual images by somehow reprocessing the PEF->JPG for each image separately? I just got my k-70 and I had the newbie multi-exposure setting problem.

I just tried "RAW" development in the camera and there wasn't any applicable option to fix a double exposure ...

Hmmmm...I am pretty sure that multiple exposure involves an in-camera merge of the RAW data before the PEF file is written.
