yeah- we all have our own preferences - I'm more interested in the fact that TN is not totally disregarding Pentax, actually appreciating what it brings to the game - to me that's a big step-up

The bit about Dual Pixel RAW is exactly about what I expected: the marketing was great but it's still not possible to pull an out-of-focus thing into-focus.

Yes K-1 deserves its praise for some things. It is mind-boggling why 5D4 does not have articulating screen. Almost a showstopper. Will be interesting to see whether Nikon pulls the same fail with D820...

The step up from 5D II to 5D III was a big one in every department, but from 5D III to 5D IV there don't seem to be enough big changes to justify an expensive upgrade. The only big changes seem a tick up in megapixels, and the metering sensor (64 zone metering to a 150k RGB metering sensor). The AF seems much the same (61 points), even the shutter rating (150k) stays the same as the 5D III.

I'm sorry but Dual Pixel Raw doesn't worth buying the EOS 5D Mark IV. I tried it and it's rubbish IMHO...Nothing to compare with Pixel Shift of Pentax K-1...

I was referring to the big headline items like the Dual Pixel RAW, the 4k video. Those are what people were getting excited about because marketing was trumpeting them loudly. Turns out they're not that exciting.

True, 4k video is done with ancient codec and DP RAW offers only one real advantage: highlight pullback.

Wow, what a difference a few months make. When Tony released his review PFers were hammering on him for not knowing/supporting the Pentax brand, his comments about lens availablility, "lack of class" for being miffed that despite being promised a review unit by Ricoh he hadn't gotten one, that his videos are worthless (and without watching it) this one was too, or the just don't like Tony so he doesn't have anything worthwhile to say. All sort of stuff that I thought were unfair comments. He posted an un-acrimonious rebuttal in which he corrected a few errors and explained his perspective on system values, The CameraStore headed off similar "Attack of the Pentaxians" with their sardonic public service content warning at the beginning of their K-1 review.

Yup - I've never been one to climb all over TN - I think he's fair and honest within the limits of what he does - his only 'weakness' is that he reviews cameras on how well they suit him, but we all do that to a greater or lesser extent - and he's always been as forthright with pros as well as cons - so I hope it's the quality of the product that has made him recognise Pentax as a serious player, not the 'attack of the Pentaxians'.

Yup - I've never been one to climb all over TN - I think he's fair and honest within the limits of what he does - his only 'weakness' is that he reviews cameras on how well they suit him, but we all do that to a greater or lesser extent - and he's always been as forthright with pros as well as cons - so I hope it's the quality of the product that has made him recognise Pentax as a serious player, not the 'attack of the Pentaxians'.

You do realize he thinks Pentax should not have made the K-1? 😀
