files for K-1 older firmware (v1.1 or 1.2, or even 1.0)

Anybody saved the older firmware images, by chance?

I will appreciate if somebody can send me a copy of v1.1, or v1.2, or even v1.00 (if it exists).

thank you very much, and have a nice weekend.

Any reason you'd want those? There's nothing that would cause me to recommend running an older FW version if you already have 1.3 installed.

You can get v1.2 and v1.1 directly from Ricoh Japan:

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/digital/firmware/k1_v120.zip
http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/digital/firmware/k1_v110.zip

Not sure about v1.0 ever being downloadable from anywhere

rawr: Thank you very much!

Adam: I upgraded my camera from v1.0 to 1.3 a few days ago, and for some reason AF is not sharp anymore. I always used select-1 and after teh upgrade I have to set the AF adjustment to +10. I want to rule out fw and make sure I'm not imagining things. I have 10 days left before 30day return policy expires, though I hate to return the camera. If the old fw works, I will keep it.

Before jumping at straws, it is always recommended to do a camera reset after a firmware upgrade. This will ensure everything is setup properly after the upgrade.

There doesn't seem to be a way for users to downgrade firmware on Pentax cameras so earlier versions aren't likely to do you much good.

You are, I think, drawing the wrong conclusions about v1.30. In my experience, v1.30 improves the AF, and doesn't degrade it. You risk going backwards with your AF, or worse, by re-installing old firmware.

I suggest that you reset all your custom camera settings to factory defaults, including your AF settings, then restart the camera, and test and adjust your AF again.

Yay, I was able to go back. v1.10 feels good now. I'll stick to this for a few days and try 1.3 again.

jbinpg, very good point. I reset the camera twice, but I also disabled noise reduction , tripod vs handheld, SR on vs off, etc. Having said that, there is always user error involved too.

I shouldn't be saying this but I "worked from home" to get this done while family is away Big load off of my mind.

Thanks again.

One thing I noticed is when I reset the custom settings, AF fine adjustment gets turned off but it still remembers the adjustment value. Not sure if this is expected behavior or not.

Is it your experience that w/ 1.3, AF is much faster?

With me, yes. And the AF is more 'confident', with AF.C in particular. Even on non-Pentax lenses like my Sigma 70-200 HSM II.

The first time I've heard of Pentax cameras allowing "downgrading" something new with the K-1 perhaps. Glad it worked out.

You got me worried when you first mentioned it may not be possible I went to 1.2 and then 1.1. Camera reports the right fw version in firmware info and AF is slower, so I was lucky.

The reset option in the menu doesn't wipe out everything, interestingly, so that's normal. Some settings need to be manually reset.

As for the firmware, I don't think any changes have been made to the AF.

Regarding user reports, oftentimes it's just the placebo effect at work. Users are excited for an update and essentially notice things that were already there but they hadn't picked up on before.
