Bug? AF select buttons in LV.

When I set the directional/cursor buttons to control AF point selection by default, it works for the viewfinder, but not for live view. In live view I have to hit the Change AF button EVERY time I want to move the point. If I set the AF point in LV, then touch the shutter button, then want to move the AF point again, I have to hit the tiny Change AF button again.

Is this a bug, or is there another setting to tell the camera to use the cursor control for AF selection by default while in live view?

Firmware version 1.4

I believe this is intended, since the directional buttons can also be used to pan in live view.

Hmmm... I REALLY wish there was an option for that. I shoot from the hip (and above the head) a lot and I'd love a joystick or full-time AF point buttons in live view. If you have the composition-adjust off (I assume that's what you are referring to), the control buttons should default to whatever setting the the AF-point-selection-buttons custom function is set to.

I don't think it is a bug of execution, I think it is void in the design specification. The product may be conform to its specification.
