I don't see a replacement in the near future, but if sales remain strong and Ricoh is seeing enough demand we might see a something along the lines of a K-1 Super with higher specs.

Sony 42MP BSI sensor
USB 3.0
SDXC UHS-II
Much bigger buffer
Many more AF points

Much more expensive. It won't be a "replacement".

I can see that happening; similar thing in 645 to reuse the new AF tech.

^^ So a 24Mp FF would be the same price point as potential 24Mp APSc flagship . . . . I dunno - maybe you're right and there won't be an APSc flagship (but I thought the interview guidance suggested fall 2017 for K-3 replacement).

My bet - one or the other, not both - and I don't think another FF is in the plans.

I though they said, " We are still researching for K-3iii". And Canikon aps-c flagships more expensive than some of their FF offerings.

And i am aware that i am very optimistic about a 2. FF model and i do agree it won't come soon. But i would have been cool to see "K-2"

Are their any camera companies that replace their FF modles on a fast cycle? Most full frame models are around for years if at ll successful.

The sensor manufacturer tries to put every new sensor out there for folks to see, what a surprise.

The K-1 is still a new model. I haven't had mine for a full year yet, and I do think I'm one of those who got it first outside Asia, not counting preproduction review samples. Others had to wait much longer since the first batch seems to have sold out in a few days.
On the other hand, I had been waiting for ten years and that was a long wait for sure. I'm still trying to learn all the features. Today I learnt how to transfer pictures from the camera to my phone, using ImageSync. Some excercise, took me a few hours before I got it right.

They just showing off their technologies and doing it fast to catch up to canikon. They only changed 1 model's sensor so far.

Sony had 7 FF models with 4 different sensors in recent years. And 12mp + 42mp are not available for other companies.

24mp sensor: A7, A7ii

36mp: A7r

12mp: A7s, A7sii

42mp: A7rii, A99ii

A 24MP version would be interesting because Sony are reportedly doing very well with the low light version of the A7 II (A7S2?) which costs here in the UK about GBP 2500. It also does 4K movies - much easier with fewer pixels. It's a market which Pentax doesn't address currently. Action photographers also don't use Pentax, due to focus being too slow. Finally I think the flash situation prevents most "pro" usage; you can't set up multiple flashes and control them from the camera - well that's what a Nikon owning pro friend of mine tells me.

And Pentax have a range of lenses which is too small for many people.

You may be confused, the A7 and ii are both 24mp....neither shoot 4K. the A7s models 1 & 2 are 12mp...the 2nd version is a 4K shooter.

Correction: A7s can shoot 4k with an external recorder

Yes,technically correct....practically inconvenient and doubles the price to shoot 4K.

Maybe but then would not necessarily target the same market. A 24MP FF camera, could be offered at lower price and ensure we don't loose sale against A7 and D610.

The A7 in particular here is in the 999€-1200€ range depending of the moment, and there some offers from discounters at 859€. That extremely tempting, quite honestly. You can get the A7 + a few lenses for price K1 alone.

Once you are invested anyway, you'll buy lenses and that what make money for the company.
