Green Button odd noise?

I have a bunch of my dad's old A series lenses, some pentax, some tokina etc. I have noticed when attached to the K-50 and using the 'Green Button' it makes a slight noise, perhaps mechanical somewhat. This noise is obsolete when using a lens such as the 100mm 2.8 WR DFA lens.
I'm not damaging my K-1 from using some of the older lenses am I?

The noise is there using the SMC 1.7 50mm A series for example.

If the aperture ring isn't set to "A", you should hear the aperture stopping down since that's what the green button does.

However, you should always set the aperture to "A" on lenses that have this setting.

What he said ^ ^ ^

The only time the green button should result in any noise is when using the ring on the lens to set aperture and the camera is in M-mode. If your lenses have the "A" position on the aperture ring, put the ring there and leave it there unless you are shooting with extension tubes, bellows, reversal ring, or various film cameras where you must use the aperture ring to change aperture.

Wow... i feel a bit stupid now, for ages I have been using (on my K-50) the SMC-A 1.7 50mm and always controlling the aperture via the ring, i never noticed the green 'A' and how there's a little button there for you to press down and twist past F22 to get to the A! That's great, just tested with the K-1 and now I can control the aperture via the camera body

I still have option 26 'Using Aperture Ring' in the menu to being at point '2', do I no longer need to have that enabled if I am in 'A' position on the lens?

Off topic, but a curious thing happened as I was walking back home today (snapping pics of course). At some point, when I half pressed the shutter button it focused fine, then pressing fully down everything just kinda goes blank (optical viewfinder), and you need to press the shutter button a second time properly for the pic to be taken :S

It's like almost Bulb mode or summin, but the exposure doesn't change :S

I dunno what I did, I had to use the 'Reset' option in the menu to get things working again normally, what did I do?

I would leave it. Having the feature enabled causes no harm. A common question is why it is not enabled by default

The lock up has happened to me a couple of times aswell. It reminds me of the glitch the K-3 has, the mirror lock up.

Ah yeah true, good point, must be that they need more menu items to make the camera look indepth lol.

Ah... is that what happened to me? I actually think i read somewhere a 'mirror up' mode? Did I accidentally toggle that on or summin, or is it straight up bug?
