What I've been up to with my new K-1

As some of you know, I recently had my budget at work approved and was able to swap our older Canon gear (5dm2) for a shiny new Pentax K-1 and 28-105. I wanted to update you on some of the work I've done with it since then. We just finished up big campaign to launch our new line of fans. The features on the K-1 made this so much easier on me than using the 5dm2. The wifi live view in my phone made it so that I can position lights and reflectors where they needed to be in real time. The extra MP and sharpness made it easy to crop. And the dynamic range really made the images super editable. The bosses here are very impressed with the images, and I love working with a camera I love and am familiar with. Super happy I was able to make the switch.

Nice shots. It is good that you are able to get the quality images that you like to get.

Yes and yes. I have spent much of the past week finding this out myself, in other contexts.

Having something to show for the money you spent is always good, but better still when it's somebody else's money you had to justify spending!!

Very nice... I'm impressed.
I've always had a soft spot for product shots.

Why not blow us some detail about any cool features of the fan.

Everything is probably done with one light:
1. Tricky, probably hrozontaly mounted stripbox from the front
2,3,4. One large softbox 45 degrees from the right
5. One softbox from the top

Thanks everyone. I always love a chance to show Pentax used professionally, especially for something that isn't landscapes. This camera is such a joy to use (unless you need AF-C).

Its a small desktop sized fan that oscillates and has 6 tilt positions. Air comes out in a vortex. 1st speed is totally silent. And its very stylish.

Yes the white ones where almost all 1 large softbox from above/right. And the last one was a softbox behind/above.

That 1st one was very tricky and has 3 lights, one on the right/behind and one left/behind to highlight the grills, one above/behind for the "hair light" across the top and a reflector in front for the highlight to define the round shape

On my opinion that 1st photo is top pro level product photography.
