The Baroque as seen through a Pentax K-1 viewfinder

Some cool artists. What do you think?

Fantastic series! Which lens(es) did you use? The out-of-focus rendering is lovely

Super nice shots. I think it was shot with the PENTAX DFA*85 1.4, under the cover of a Sigma lens. Must have been not so easy to get the exposure right with that white clothing in bright sun.

Thanks. Did require some adjustments while developing from raw and I was quite happy about the offered sensor dynamic range.
As you can see in #2 when looking at the shadows on the ground while my seating position was very nice, the whole show ran with the sun quite directly behind the artists, which is not ideal. There was the choice between sun in the back and only seeing the backsides of the artists or shooting against the sun and seeing their faces...

Very impressive! Vibrant and dynamic with well pitched whites. They have a great impact

I expect the up coming 85 1.4 to be sharp as with even smoother bokeh. In fact better than sigma.

My impression is that all these shots are a little overexposed. Is your Exposure Value set too high? Exposure Compensation might solve this issue.

They are intentionally underexposed as should be quite obvious.
Otherwise shooting bright white dresses in bright sunlight would leave you with lots of burnt out areas - which would be more realistic, but is less appealing as a photo.

Well done!
Could this be Schloss Benrath in Düsseldorf, by chance?

Yes.

If you clicked on any of the images above you see the files all are named "Barockfest Benrath"...

The majority of artists are from Die Artistokraten - Sommerzauber.

Ha! :-) I thought it looked familiar. I grew up close to it, my older brother went to school in the Schloss, back when there was still a school in one of its wings (i think until 1982 or so).
