Asahi Pentax 6x7 and K-1

This was probably pointed out long ago and I forgot or didn't see it but isn't it neat how much the K-1 body resembles the wonderful old Asahi Pentax 6x7. In some ways the 67 and 67II are even more similar but I miss the Asahi Pentax name so I pointed to that

Yes... and I don't think the resemblance is by accident either. It is so fitting that both of the cameras are best of category and legends in their own rights.

Yes, and every time I look at the 6x7 or 67 I want one even though I no longer shoot film. I knew there was some deep psychological reason beyond the tech specs and great performance that I love the K-1.

Though the K1 is happily a ton quieter than the 67 😃

When you take a picture with a 67, you are announcing it to the world.

I would still love to have one... with the wooden grip in case I need to explain to the Hasselblad folks that it’s not a rebadged Sony 🙂

It’s the prism hump. And isn’t it also neat the way KP draws visual and naming cues from AP?

They’re intentionally drawing the Pentax faithful back to the fold.

It really is neat the way the seem to be consciously reasserting the Pentax classic looks. Even the little MX-1, although it didn't really look like the old MX despite the name. I play with other brands and see their merits but it is just fun to be a Pentaxian.

AldaCZ's photo in the Gear P0rn thread (pg 344) had me fooled on first glance,
Until I looked at it a second time, thought it was a weird looking P67

Definitely! It's a pity that the K1 battery grip is not made of wood :-)
