K1M2 - issues using manual lenses

Some of my manual lenses do not seem to be working, i.e. when exposure set to M, I cannot change the shutter speed (aperature is set manually) - I.E. there is no shutter speed displayed on the lcd panel aqnd pressing the shutter button, nothing happens - no image,

Examples include: SMC Pentax 1:3.5/24

but, if i put on a super-takumar 1:3.5/35 i see the normal display for shutter speed.

smc pentax-m 1:1.7 50mm no shuitter

rok 14mm with KR mount OK.

I have combed through the menus trying to find something,

what am I doing wrong>

Menu, settings last page, 26. Use aperture ring, turn that to 2(use).

yeah it's the A mode. When I first attached my Samyang I also thought something was wrong. Set it to A mode and voila

The lenses the OP was having problems with do not have an "A" setting. The problem was the menu setting.
