Personally, I have found that taking photos with my lens cap on really helps that situation. And my photos have an amazingly consistent appearance. I don't know how the K-1 II performs in such a situation, but the original K-1 seems to take forever to lock focus with the lens cap on (even using the auto focus assist light) and then produces really interesting, kind of dark and blotchy photos (regardless of iso used).

And the great thing is that I don't actually have to wake up early to shoot any more.

(It also has killed LBA since all my lenses look the same with the lens cap on).

perhaps I should try that out

My LBA doesn't react to

1 my actual needs or

2 how the lens I seek would actually do with my other equipment or

3 any estimated time that I would use the new lens or

4 my immediate ability to pay for a new lens or

5 any rational thought

You could always invest in a pile of ND filters or move within one of the Polar Circles.
I always wondered what CPL stood for, now I know it is an achronym for CircumPolar Lens.

Certainly rare in Scotland...

And another thing: the big yellow light in the sky has caused all the trees to produce strange fluttery appendages. It really cuts down on visibility.
