Evening everyone, I'm looking for someone with access to both a K1 and K1 mkII who would humor me a bit. I'm trying to decide between now and September, if I upgrade my K1. What I'm interested in is....
- A set of long exposure shots for comparison purposes between the two bodies, same lens, same focal length, same aperture, same ISO, off a tripod, lens pre-focused to infinity earlier in the day, with the focus ring taped down.
- Ground landscape shots - not sky or astro. Can be of anything. It does not have to be interesting.
- No moon - right now the moon sets in the early evening, so it's nice and dark.
- Long Exposure - about 2 minutes for each shot
- Raw format - DNG would be just perfect
The latest Ricoh interview with Imaging Resources - and there was a thread on this the other day, and had the best description on the Accelerator Chip I have read to date. It's suppose to suppress noise (enhance the signal to noise ratio) across all ISOs (but I suspect it's more effective at higher ISOs).
At the end of January, the day after I received my new 15-30/f2.8 - I scooted out to test it at Oh dark hundred in the morning. This is from the K1, DFA 15-30/f2.8 @ f2.8, ISO 800, 2 minutes. It's a stitch of 4 frames. No moon
Yes, I'm happy with the results - there will be noise when you are shooting in the total darkness. My question is - if I were to go with the upgrade, would I see any less noise and I trying to figure how much less?
Thanks!!!
