Shake reduction in video was surprising

Maybe this is general knowledge, but I had a problem with SR in video mode — the camera was on a tripod, but the image was still floating. After a bit of experimenting I found out that the SR was not compensating for the camera shake, but for the movement of the face. Had to turn it off, because the video was in a tight framing and the SR exposed parts of props that shouldn't be visible. Not sure if the feature is really cool or a bit annoying. Couldn't find it described in the manual.

SR on a tripod can backfire and therefore generally shouldn't be used.

Also, the SR in video mode is purely electronic (on all models after the K-5), so it goes by the image itself rather than the movements of the sensor. This would explain what you were seeing.

This means only one thing: more experiments required!

Agreed. The video SR on my K-3II is permanently off, on a tripod or handheld. If the latter, I de-shake in post using VirtualDub.
